u3a is a UK-wide movement which brings together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment. The third age is the time after you have finished working full-time or raising your family and have time to pursue your interests or try something new and make new friends.

Haxby and Wigginton u3a serves a pleasant community four miles north of York.

We offer a range of study, creative and leisure groups for those not currently in full-time employment. Activities are organised by our members for members and share their skills and expertise. Our membership is over 650 and we have around 50 interest groups. There is an annual membership fee of only £10.

We hold regular members meetings, usually every month, where we have a guest speaker and refreshments, and time to chat with other members.

We arrange coach outings, theatre trips and holidays to places of general or group interest. See What's on for more information.

Interest group meetings are held in various local venues for which a small charge may be made but smaller groups often meet in members’ homes.
